Leon County Jail

Pre-sentencing

Interview with Alex and Javier

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Alex: It was a very irritating process for me. The pre-sentencing process is definately not for impatient individuals or for people who are weak at heart. That time spent took almost forever to pass by.
Javier: It was very difficult. It put a lot of stress on me anticipating my sentence for 12 months. I had my lawyer push my dates back so that i could finish school before i went in.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning?
Alex: Police did not stop by my house for questioning.
Javier: No, police never stopped by but they did call me.

JM: What was your court appearance like?
Alex: It was a lengthy process. It started around 6AM and ended somewhere around 7PM after all of the inmates in my cell block had their appearances. I gave back my plea and asked for an open session/plea with the judge to try to get my sentencing reduced. I also had a public defender there with me.
Javier: My court appearances always went pretty well. I was blessed with a good judge and reasonable state attorney. It was always scary though listening to every hearing before yours.

my wife, bella fell, spn 209182,is an imate there, she was arrested on dec.19,2009.when would her court appearence be?
